This wine cask finish is produced in collaboration with Voyager Estate in the Margaret River wine region in Western Australia. Initially matured in Bourbon barrels for 3 years, it was further aged for 15 months in French Troncais oak which previously held Voyager's flagship wine, the "MJW" Cabernet. The cask was sent to Japan for re-filling in early 2020. The result is a harmony between the world of whisky and wine: An attractive pale red rose colour shows evidence of the secondary cask, with fruity aromas of grapes, berry and pomegranate. The mouthfeel shows some elegance and grape fruit character, finishing long and viscous, with umami and with a well balanced sweetness.
