The latest batch of Bunnahabhain, batch 12. A release of just 264, bottles this is a stonking 29 year old whisky that has the delicate and sweet nature of the distillery with a quite superb level of complexity and richness.
Lightly sweet on the nose with buttery vanilla, cough syrup and a slightly savoury element (frazzles crisps). The Palate is mouthfilling with fudge, toffee, and cherry fruit, there's also a slint hint of smoke too. The finish is long with chocolate, fudge and a slight drying pepper to fade out.
