This distillery needs no introduction. Owned by the Edrington Group the distillery sits in Craigellachie in the heart of Speyside. It is the second or third highest selling single malt scotch whisky in the world behind Glenfiddich and Glenlivet. The distillery produces a number of expressions each year but non are as sought after as the rare cask.
First developed in 2018 the second release has been bottled in 2019 and vatted from 50 European Sherry seasoned oak butts. It boasts an abv of 43% making it the perfect sherried Macallan full of complex flavours and extremely enjoyable to drink. Bottled in a decanter and packaged in a gift box.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: The raisins and vanilla burst out of the glass leading to toffee apples, lemon pie and orange zest.
Taste: Chocolate appears combining with vanilla and polished oak. Citrus and dark fruits present themselves at the back of the palate.
Finish: Little bit of spice and plenty of Christmas cake flavours dance around the tongue.
